Antique steel engraving print Burlington Arcade. 1845, 8,5 x 5,5 ins.  from ‘Curiosities of Great Britain. England and Wales Delineated. Historical, Entertaining & Commercial, Alphabetically Arranged by Thomas Dugdale, Antiquarian. Assisted by William Burnett.’ (Dugdale was a professional artist, whilst Burnett was a civil engineer by profession.) Together they produced a series of steel engraved prints of English and Welsh architectural and topographical features, together with County Maps, The first edition was published c.1845. This image shows the Georgian Burlington Arcade, built on the instructions of Lord George Cavendish, and designed by the architect Samuel Ware. The arcade continues to attract shoppers to this part of the ‘West End.’
